AGRICULTURE Agriculture encompasses crop and livestock production, aquaculture, fisheries, and forestry for food and non-food products . Agriculture was the key development in the rise of sedentary human civilization, whereby farming of domesticated species created food surpluses that enabled people to live in cities. It is the science and practice of growing crops by the cultivation of the land. It is the backbone of the Indian economy. It comprises activities like growing pulses, food grains, sugarcane, cotton, jute, oilseeds, etc. Apart from this, it also comprises allied activities like poultry farm, animal husbandry, dairy farming, etc.
